May Garden Work
- Replenish Garden Beds: raised beds are intensively worked gardens:
replenish depleted organic matter and fertilsers by adding more Living Earth
Garden Mix.
- Sharpen: It's time to sharpen tools for pruning. It's amazing what the
local tool sharpening service can do - get rid of rust, replace the springs on
your favourite pair of secateurs and of course, sharpen blades
- Plant spring flowering bulbs - tulips, daffodils and hyacinths
- Good winter colour comes with flowering polyanthus - feed them dried blood
- yucky but true!
- Weed and mulch: Tuck the garden up for winter, by getting rid of weeds and
layering a thick (50-100mm) layer of BLACKGOLD Mulch around your garden.
Lawns
- Mow less often - grow is slowing down
- In warmer areas you can still over-sow of bare patches
